Carolyn Backus is an analyst at Hamilton Place Strategies, where she assists clients with researching and developing data-driven communication strategies based on their policy objectives.
Most recently, Carolyn worked in the microenterprise department of Justine PETERSEN, a not-for-profit in her hometown of St. Louis. While there, Carolyn worked with small business owners receiving microloans and analyzed factors impacting the credit scores of individuals in the region. While in college, Carolyn interned at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. As an intern, she provided strategies to revamp the St. Louis Fed’s social media presence and co-authored economic education materials for high school and college students. Furthermore, as an intern for Alumni & Development Programs at Washington University, she was responsible for writing an internal newsletter and drafting remarks for administrative speaker events.
Carolyn graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Educational Studies. She is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
