Biography

Mac O’Brien is a director at Hamilton Place Strategies, where he provides strategic guidance to clients and leads teams focused on tax, technology, financial services, trade, energy, and education policy issues. He previously authored the HPS-CivicScience Economic Sentiment Index (ESI) and has served as a national spokesman for a policy-oriented tax coalition.

Prior to his work at HPS, Mac interned at the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Economic Policy Project, where he conducted research, contributed to blog posts, and drafted written testimony for a House subcommittee hearing on Social Security.

Mac also spent time interning for Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA), where he worked for the Senator’s Legislative Director of Finance. During his time there, he focused on tax reform issues.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Mac graduated from Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in Economics and Politics—with a focus on American Government—and served as the Georgia State Chair for the Washington & Lee Mock Convention.
